In those days all SU rings carried a prefix for the two pigeon weeklies, SURP was Racing Pigeon, and SUHW was the Homing World. I'm not sure what the reason for that prefix was, and as I remember they alternated each year? Also these rings were all-metal and the letters and numbers stood proud of the ring surface. I suspect they are a lot bigger than todays rings too.

I suspect they are a lot bigger than todays rings too. no these rings were a lot smaller,they changed to the plastic coated ones because they were easily squashed.
