Guest bakes Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 i no a few flyers with meshed front lofts but in winter they screw a large piece of plastic onto the front to stop rain getting in most have normal plywood floors some have floor grills all the best.
JohnQuinn Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 The floor will be slippy with that on it but it will be easy cleaned. You should do everything to keep the rain off it and it'll be ok. I put huge tile like sheets on the floors in 2 lofts and think its great. Have since put deep litter on it and its ok with that too. When i say huge i mean 9ft by 4 and a half foot, heavy things as well. Same rule as any other flooring though, keep it dry.
p charlton Posted April 11, 2010 Author Report Posted April 11, 2010 i am going to use the plastic for shutter and ply for the floor
av8or Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 I have my Aviary around 18 inches off the ground and I purchases plastic floor grills for the loft. However, I didn't like them in the loft so used them in my aviary, which makes life so much easier. I haven't needed to clean the Aviary for over 12 months, as there isn't any need. If you can't use floor grills, I would use a heavy mesh and if you need to walk on it, temporarily place a plank of wood over the mesh to offer support. Photo's attached. And no jokes about it looking like a prison cell. It gets the sun all day (when it rarely shines in this country) and the birds love it!
Guest youngboy Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 outstanding mate to right lovly loft
JohnQuinn Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I'm always on the look out for good idea's, that aviary is the best i;ve seen in a long while.
