Hi All,

I have a cock already paired to a hen and she is down on second round fertile eggs. I noticed tonight that another hen in the loft has also laid. I only have the one cock in there the rest are all babies eldest born in March. I have seen the lone cock mating with the hen that laid this evening, so assuming the eggs are fertile will the hen sit them and will she sit when the cock should be sitting, as apart from the mating he is showing no interest in her at all and spends all his time with his first hen.

2 years a ago we had a hen her cock died before she laid but she seat herself just came of the nest the odd time sort of stopped going to the feeder so I feed and watered her in her box but the box was allways opened if another bird cock or hen came into the nestbox she put them out hatched and reared the 2 young by herself

THAT SAID WE HAVE FANTAILS

hope this helps
