zetlandlad999 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 anybody wanting to have a few fancy birds around or are after starting up with fancy birds DO NOT BUY FROM MARKETS OR BIRD AUCTIONS you will probably be buying a load of trouble. Contact the N.P.A who will put you in touch with the breed club Secratarywho will then put you in touch with local breeders who will put you on the right path with decent stock, and not culls.
bewted Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 that is rubbish mate,i have bought out of some of these markets of fancy pigeons, admittadly the birds do not look there best, but, the rough treatment they had, what do you expect,i purchased a pr of german beauty homers for £2 that were rough and under wieght,,,,,,,,7/8 months later they feed out of my hand and they are 9 yrs old,now sitting first eggs,,,,,,,,my £2 was well spent,if,only to let thier last remaining yrs in my loft happy and contented,I ENJOY THERE COMPANY,,,,,,,,,,,,,DO NOT make stupid and insane remarks on here like that for public to read and digest,i for one reject your ridiculous claims, you get what you pay for,,,,,if you or anyone else think i am a liar,I INVITE ANYONE TO COME AND SEE LIVING PROOF, ted ps,i also have more breeds from markets
Guest beautyhomer Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 ZETLANDLAD999, You are obviously from the racing side of the fancy.Your comments on this thread and on fantails show your ignorance.Obviously you will not get show winning birds from auctions, but if you just want a few fancys around the loft they are a good place to start.I myself started with birds from auctions and have gone on to breed a NPA champion. If you can recognise the potential in these birds and they are healthy you should not have a problem. It would be best to take an experienced fancier with you if you are a novice and not sure what you are doing, agree there is a lot of rubbish in these auctions but then so are racing pigeon auctions. Previous posts on fantails (by myself included) have covered the different breeds of fantails well enough if you had bothered to read them
bewted Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 that proves something beautyhomer, not all rubbish in livestock markets,if,an NPA CHAMPION can be bred, well done beautyhomer,,your mail 100% true there,,,,ted
snowy Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 well said beautyhomer & bewted, any pigeons brought from anywhere could be good or bad, at least these are getting people into these lovely & gracious birds.
Blue Chequer Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Thats you put in your place Neil, especially when you are a qualified NPA judge. Obviously you know nowt about Fancy birds? I am surprised you havn't come back on this issue.
storm rollers Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 i have bought npa rung birds from markets
bewted Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 NIEL!!!!! AN NPA JUDGE?????? JUDGE OF WHAT? STUPID STATEMENTS,,,,,,,TED
Guest beautyhomer Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Thats you put in your place Neil, especially when you are a qualified NPA judge. Obviously you know nowt about Fancy birds? I am surprised you havn't come back on this issue. There is no such thing as an NPA qualified judge. This would imply that training and exams are required when the reality is the breed clubs nominate people who they consider have enough experiance to go on the approved judges register.Who told you that you need to be qualified????????From your post are you trying to insinuate that it is me who knows nothing about fancy pigeons? I am on this register for German Beauty Homers, perhaps Neil could tell us what breeds he has been nominated for. In a previous post he stated that Arkangels have had a name change which is total rubbish, hardly the sort of statement you would expect from an experienced fancier.
storm rollers Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 WELL ZETLANDLAD999 DID YOU GET THE RESPONSE YOU HOPED FOR LOL :)
Blue Chequer Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I believe Neil was on the approved list for Indian Fantails but would not swear to this. Perhaps the word qualified was bit strong but you have to be half decent to get on the list and be accepted by other clubs. He is now involved on the racing side but has a long history with the fancy breeds. I think his observation that you should buy your stock from an established fancier rather than an open market is sound advice for any new fancier.
storm rollers Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 my first birds were from a local market and they were brilliant birds.they are what you make them
storm rollers Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 i dont show or fly my birds in compition but that doesnt mean there no good.
