Guest devonred Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I have a chequer hen with a snotty wattle & have heard a a couple birds sneezing?? Can,t be lack of ventilation as birds in aviary all day. Does anybody know what is & what the best treatment is please
Guest joshdonlan Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 seems quite a few with this problem. I myself have seen a few with greasy wattles, but they seem to get over it themselves. Im just giving them a treatment for canker and thats it.
Guest devonred Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 thanks for that Josh, have looked for canker but no signs
Guest joshdonlan Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 could be resp. theres quite a number of people with this problem so it seems.
Guest The main Mahon Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 This could be infectious coryza. The symptoms are sneezing, snotty wattle and wheezing but it is usually caused by poor ventilation, but as you have already said, they have plenty of ventilation with them being out in an aviary. So maybe its not that. Unless.........do they roost in the loft? Perhaps the interior of the loft is dusty?
Guest devonred Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks, do shut loft down over night it has 4 vents to give ventilation, but I do have grit on floor I suppose that could be the cause. What treatment could be used??
Guest The main Mahon Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 To treat for infectious coryza treat the whole flock together with either chevi-col or BS by Belgica de Weerd.
jimbowie Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 have you tried tylan? mixed with water, then inject it.its hard to get hold of but some one could have it,all the best, jimbowie
