zetlandlad999 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Right Lads and Lasses, just to put you all on the right path. Indian Fantails are medium in size with large tails and muffs on there legs. Exhibition Fantail, are smaller bodied, have thweir heads down behind there chests with large tails and are clean legged. Garden Fantails are free flying with scalloped tails, usually seen around Dovcotes and only come in White, anything else is a Xbreed.

YES !! i knew it!! garden fans are like the wild ones with out the fanned tail, i always though that till people started to confuse me : though its easy done this is a pic of some that i had in the garden before i started keeping pigeons so are these garden fantails??
samantha Posted April 26, 2006 Author Report Posted April 26, 2006 zetlandladland.. lol, can i ask you to look at my birds i think its reply 19 and tell me what they are, are they garden or indian or a mixbreed ?? thank you
Bob Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 hi sam erm i dont have anything now but ill keep u in mind
THE FIFER Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I THINK U WILL FIND GARDEN FANTAILS COME IN ALL COLOURS,
Guest beautyhomer Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 AS I HAVE PREVIOUSLY POSTED,THE STANDARD ONLY ALLOWS FOR WHITE.ANY OTHER COLOURS ARE POOR QUALITY/CROSS BRED EXHIBITIONS
Bob Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 i also agree with beautyhomer gardern fantails only cum in white any other colours are not accepted as gardern fantails
THE FIFER Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 U ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SHOW BIRDS RULES BUT THE ONES PEOPLE KEEP IN THEIR GARDENS, BLACK BLUE WHITE ARE THEY NOT GARDEN FANTAILS, ITS JUST LIKE RACING PIGEONS, RACERS AND SHOW RACERS, THE SHOW BIRDS DO NOT RACE BUT ARE STILL CALLED RACERS.
samantha Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 Right Lads and Lasses, just to put you all on the right path. Garden Fantails are free flying with scalloped tails, usually seen around Dovcotes and only come in White, anything else is a Xbreed. i have 4 new fantails, i was told they were indian, but one hen is (beautiful) smaller and has her head so far down her back sometimes you can only see her chest and legs, so am i right in thinking that she is an exhibition fantail ? the others have lovely fanned tails but no muffs i think they are perhaps not pure bread indians? i think im starting to actually know what im doing !!!!
Guest beautyhomer Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Yes Samantha, she sounds like an exhibition fantail. The others are more than likely the poor quality fantails that fifer refers to as garden fantails. These would be better described as pet fantails. Andrew
Guest Paulo Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Samantha, those are two bonny fantails really nice birds.
samantha Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 thanks andrew, i think pet fantails is a perfect name for them, like it! Paulo i have some much prettier ones now however the moult has hit them hard so ill put some pics up when they are looking good again
Guest Paulo Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Nice one hope they get through the moult soon. Its the same with mine I've got a loft full of feathers at the minute I could go into the duvet filling industry
samantha Posted August 23, 2006 Author Report Posted August 23, 2006 yes that thought crossed my mind a few weeks ago, would make lovely comfy pillows !
gangster Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 hi sam this year the npa will be holding there main show in conjunction with the show of the year and you can see hundreds of fantails there, indian(which have a bit of a tuft on there neck) exibition, and i presume garden f?tails will be there.
Guest beautyhomer Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 The NPA show at Blackpool is their only show and it is the first time that they have run their own show.
