Hi, This will seem so stupid, but if you dont ask, you'll never know.Have 8 whites that I brought in last weekend.First time keeping pigeons, so what is procedure to train them on coming back to the loft? One out at a time, two, or what?In years to come I may feel a bit embarrassed by the question, but I get e-mails asking advice on Budgerigars, that I have learned, but others are not sure, so excuse my ignorance at this stage.

Cheers

are they this years ybs ? have they been out in an aviary or trap so they can have a good look around ? it's never easy getting your first birds flying out. its a balence really the longer you leave them in the stronger they'll get and they may fly to far....on the other hand the more time looking around the better. some people like a dull/drizzly day to let out on when the ybs will just sit around on/around the loft getting acclimatised. good luck :)

Thanks a lot, will leave them another couple of weeks and then try them.As far as I'm aware they were in an avairy setting. Its all new, and eventually will become clear.Maybe common sense prevails at a lot of times. They are this years ybs ok.

cheers.

'where they were'??? they need to having a good look round from their new home. if they get to strong you might try 'soaping' the wings...havn't done this much myself so i'm not an expert....but ,basically a little soap lathered and placed on the wings makes it hared to fly and thus stray to far until they know where home is
