with all the hot weather this weekend it will be interesting to see if we see an increase in the dreaded y/bird sickness in the next few days, always seems to come more when its hot weather, people feeding too heavy, got my own on half feed half depuritive and will only be let out 1st thing in the mornings while its still cool, whats peoples views on this

agree m8, hot weather brings all sorts of problems, and its something new to our birds as we havent had much of it of late, make sure birds have plenty clean water at hand, and get plenty fresh air

this dreaded yb sickness is certainly a bug bearer nowadays, and as you say, this hot weather can bring all sorts of problems, i remember the late jim biss saying that common, and pigeon flies are like hypodermic needles, and cause much disease, then followed on with secondary infections, [which is the real bug bearer],, keeping flies at bay, certainly helps, i find the old fashioned moth balls help, but there are many more modern ways,,

 

 

another bug bearer is definitely stress, a lot of this can be contributed to overcrowding, and not enough fresh air, as you say, plenty fresh air and clean water [and clean water dishes], helps as well,,,, i often spray the loft each dry day, with a solution of virkon s,, a very good disinfectant,, its very hard to eradicate yb sickness, but at least ive found these things at least help minimize it
