It will and always is on every year [there is too much money to be made and lost for it not to be!!Even when ALL other shows in the UK were off due to bird flue Blackpool still went ahead, millions of pounds ride on it.You could have got confused about the fancy show [held in conjunction with Blackpool been off].This is also now back on

I am helping out with the fancy's at Blackpool and am assured that all the problems will be sorted for next year

Yeah and the lighting will be improved too,it was only the first attempt this year so it was a pretty good effort considering. It could become the top fancy show in britain but only if it has the fancy behind it...you know the saying use it or loose it so if anyone can help out or has birds to enter please do so

How do you go about entering a racing pigeon into a show at blackpool? Is there a prerequisite like a knock out event? or do you just send the form of for the bird and what class etc?

IF ITS A RACER CLASS YOU MUST QUALIFY ON RACE RESULTS BIRDAGE ECT AND IF ITS A SHOWRACER CLASS (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG CHRISSY) YOU ALSO QUALIFY ON RESULTS OBTAINED DURING THE SHOW SEASON...........AND IF ITS A FANCY PIGEON YOU CAN GET AN ENTRY FORM VIA TRACEY EDWARDS AND IF YOUR BIRDS GOOD ENOUGH ENTER THEM MOST SHOW FOLK ARE A DIFFERENT LOT TO THE RACING GUYS IVE NEVER MET AN UNHELPFUL ONE YET..............

Racing pigeons must have racing certificates that they have raced the distance specified for that class ex 500 mile cock must have a certificate signed by their club secretary stating it's flown 5oo miles or more, these are all handeling classes. If your racers have not flown you can only do the through the wires class.Anyone can enter show racers, don't have to qualify at any shows for it but it would be stupid to take anything that's not pretty special as the standard is very high. The only classes not open to an ordinary fancier are the inter society classes [for which you must be a member of one of the regional societies] and the supreme champions class which you do need to qualify for, still plenty of classes to go at though, don't make the mistake that someone makes every year of putting racing pigeons in the show classes, they'll never beat a show racer there.Of course you also need to take your vaccination certificate with you and if you want to get in at a decent hotel you need to book now

Also forgot to mention you get your schedule from the reddings, ring up about october time. The racing pigeon classes are self explanitory...explains the criteria to be met for each class at the side. You will need to enter a decent size team to qualify for free entry tickets, roughly 12.Birds must be in by about 5 pm ish friday and stay there till about 4 pm sunday.Have a go!
