Guest beautyhomer Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Stuart I am really glad for you that everyone is happy with your birds.I only asked you a question. One of my birds is on the cover of a pigeon magazine today having won at a major show nice to know that if I get hard up I could sell it on here,it was free but it must be worth something now..Wonder what I could ask for it? I see that your pigeon was best show racer at Cheshire show. This is not a major show at any stretch of the imagination. It is only an agricultural show where the pigeons are a minor part. How many show racers were there and how many were yours? When I judged them 2 years ago there were only a few entered. Agricultural shows are the least important of shows because they are held outside of the show season and the very limited number of entries they receive per breed.
mark Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 beatyhomer, a win is a win even if you do try and take the gloss off it.

Saw your birds picture on the front of Feathered World, the guy just along from me gets it and he usually lets me see it after him, he actually enters a lot of shows in england and he does very well at them, he also shows at blackpool and has done very well there , his name is Alan Rundell so maybe u will have seen his name somewhere at shows you are both probably at, his name is always in the magazines because he does get a lot of good results all over the country.

The White Rapido Man Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Thats a 'bobby dazzler' Chrissy, and a credit to you!! Do you allow your birds to fly out?
Guest Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Thats a 'bobby dazzler' Chrissy, and a credit to you!! Do you allow your birds to fly out? No they all used to fly out but we have too many hawks now.By the way would be interested to know if you did cross the beauty homer with a racing pigeon,if so would like to see the end result.
Guest beautyhomer Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Let us see some of your birds "Beauty homer" and let us judge yours against Chrissy's sherlock,as most people on here know I stopped showing several years ago due to work/family comitments.I now carry out judging engagements when I can. However I would be more than happy to compare my show record with anyones.I am not one to brag but 3 NPA champions and 50 NPA Challenge Certificates plus several best of breeds including Doncaster, shows I can tell the difference between shows. At no point did I pass any comment on the show racer so I cannot see where you are coming from,if I had said I had better,or slated her pigeon that would be different. This thread has been created by a moderator from the cuttings of another thread on the birds for sale board so if you did not see it, it is now out of context!!!!!!!!! One final point,I look forward to judging chrissy's Show Racers over at Queensferry in the not too distant future where there might be more deserving competion. Watch This Space!
IrishFancier Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 I think you've done well chrissy, you can only beat whats in front of you and you clearly done that so fair play and good luck with the show season.

I think this comment is far from encouraging, Chickadee is building a stock of fancy pigeons. I think you start entering small events locally then learn from them what is what in the fanciers world I used to show Dobermans and if it is the same in the pigeon ring then its not just the bird that wins its the getting it ready for the show. No doubt a lot of politics go on as well among judges. I had a cracking dog that I entered at one show and got put out with the rubbish, entered if at the following show that had the same judge but got a breeder/freind who judged as well to handle him, he won best in breed best in show and got his cc for crufts......birds/dogs it doesn't matter I hope Chrissy hasn't ruffled your feathers for the next show
Guest beautyhomer Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Since rose created this thread from a post questioning swilcox where he gets his prices from it has no meaning anymore.I do not believe for one minute that chrissy thinks that cheshire is a major show.I think she made it sound better than it was to show that freebie pigeons can win just as easily as expensive ones i.e. getting at Stuart. This thread now looks like I am getting at chrissy for no reason which is completely untrue thanks to rose.I have no problem with small local shows, hence my willingness to help out when I can but pretending they are bigger than they are to look better fools no one.Like everyone else we all start at the local shows as they are the entry point into the hobby and at no point have I knocked anyone for it as I would be calling myself. The comment about politics in judges in relation to dog shows is irrelevent because judges at pigeon shows do not know who the birds belong to so there should be no bias

Guest Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Beautyhomer I was annoyed by your initial comments which could be constrewed as attempting to belittle my win but with your previous post you have hit the nail on the head,I was illustrating the fact that you do not need to spend large sums of money aquiering birds.Of course I am proud of all my wins regardless of the calibra of show and never said Cheshire was the equivelent of Blackpool neither are any of the shows held during the summer months.I gain great pleasure from showing my birds and therefore in order to lenghthen the showing year I do the summer shows too aswell as the serious season which doesn't start till october.I am attending Bakewell next week which I won last year and hopefully will see you at Queensferry which I also won last time.
Guest Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 hope you win it again this year to chrissy well done ;D ;D ;)
DOVEScot Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Good luck, do you or anyone have info on the Queensferry show please
Guest Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 :-/ Chrissy , which Queensferry is that , Scotland or Wales ?? andy
DOVEScot Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 North Wales, just over the border Sorry I thought you meant the real Queensferry ;D ;D ;D
