Guest ben Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Sam, I know that`s not a racer, but it looks likeit`s got a bit of pipey feather to me,and if you get it on the primary/secondaries,it shows weakness
johnny11 Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Ben How you doing What would you put this down to? John
Guest ben Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Fine john, just wish i had my birds back,i don`t half miss `em,i go to sleep dreaming of them, wake up thinking about them, and spend the day looking skywards with my head in the clouds. :'( :'(. As for the pipey feathers, just weakness of the parents, the youngster it`s self, bloods not right, does`nt really matter about that 1 ,because it`s will never be worked.Easy to bath the sheath with warm water, soon splits to let the feather out,but nature has shown us a weakness. I`ll say 1 thing thou, those pics jimmy white and snowy put on showing those latebreds, blimey, magnificently reared, crackers.
Glassfeather Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Hi, Nice youngster Samantha. This bird is likely to have extra tail feathers as it is a fantail, and I think they are prone this condition. The colour, well it looks a bit like toy stencil, I see the hen is also grizzle, so I'm not really sure about it, all depends what colour the sire is carrying underneath the white. I would love to see photos of it after it has moulted, sometimes the bronze (brown) colour changes.
