My parents used to keep them and cross them with the Big breeds to produce females to mate back to the big breeds. This way they could take advange of the greater egg production and mothering qualities of the Chinese Geese and produce 3/4 bred heavy birds for the table. We used to grow crops to feed them on and used barley to produce the final finish before they were killed for the table. I have not seen this type of goose for years now. I am glad that they are still about.

I am glad that they are still about.Really?But i prefer to maintain them pure.They are migrant birds,i want to keep their nature unchanged.My father also want to cross them with white goose,commomly seen here,but i project.
