i have a pair of old birds i recently broke into the loft, they are rearing a pair of young just now. i let them out every day but they only fly around for a few minutes then sit on the roof. any ideas how to sort this?

i do tosses with them and they are fast at getting home.

Don't even annoy yourself about that. If they train well they'll race equally well, one of the laziest birds i've ever came across won the section for me about 5 years ago. Seriously forget about them sitting around its not a concern.
