Hello,

i am 26 years old and a Leo.  I just recently moved back to my hometown and was able to build a loft.  I have been raised around a lot of fanciers.  and have noticed they all have similiar ideas and vastly different ideas.  I am one of the youngest in my club as no one my age is really joining the sport.  unfortunately as the older fanciers "die" out there isnt anyone to replace them.  by the time i am their age there may not be a sport in the USA.

As much as i know about pigeons- i dont know everything.  There is a vast amount of knowlege to be accessed on the internet.  The two things i am looking into the most is pigeon breeding and pigeon genetics.  Make that three: Pigeon Nutrition.  I consider myself very smart and i learn very quickly.  i cant spell worth a darn... but everything else seems easy to me.  what i cant find on the internet i as on the forums.  This is the best out of the three i visit.

This year i am partnered with a fellow in the club and will be breeding birds in my loft but racing out of his.  I have actually taught him a few tricks with the information i have learned here and some of the better genetics websites.

There is nothing i enjoy more than coming home and letting my birds out to fly.  Even when i am driving through town i watch to ferals as they twist and turn.  Unfortunately, i have had to keep my flying team locked up because i have a resident hawk.  I have bought a Hawk Ball.  (big mirror ball from Jedds.com) that is supposed to  fool the hawk into thinking there is another hawk and that he might become dinner himself.  If that doesnt work i will have to Relocate his *expletive removed*.

I am myself an animal lover of all kinds.  i do my best to never harm animals and even bugs.  except i will kill any mosqiuto, black spider, or ant.  I have, in my life,  had to end an animals life to end its suffering.  one of the sadest days was a rabbit who had become paralyzed from the mid back down.  flies had laid eggs on her and the maggots were eating her alive.  the only cruel thing would have been to let her die that way.

I am an open book.  i tend to get in trouble when people are not used to blunt and honest answers.  i will answer any question someone asks.  i dont consider it rude if someone asks how much i paid for my car or pay on my house.  If you would like to ask me any question feel free to PM me.

Many thanks for your posting.

I think one has to watch ones back these days.  Last year I got a phone call from a person who said he was a film producer from New York who wanted to film a short documentary about pigeon racing, he fired a load of questions regarding feeding training etc, then he started to ask me how I culled my birds, BIG WARNING BELLS this was no film producer but a PETA member trying to get the dirt, after a quick naff off I put the phone down.

Three years ago I was contacted by a "Concerned citizen" in CA who reported that a neighbout who was a pigeon flyer was sick and his birds were in trouble, could I do something about it.  Well yes I did, I contacted flyers in the area and arranged that one of them call this guy and arrange to go and collect the birds.  He made some lame excuse this went on for about 3 days.  I checked the guys telephone number with a friend in CA and the area code bore no relation to the area where the distressed birds were at.  This was yet another PETA attempt to put us on the spot, fortunately I went to great lengths to assure the man that the birds would be cared for even if it meant me travelling down and collecting them myself.

Just two instances of where PETA have tried to infiltrate our Ranks and try to find "The Dark side"
