sean75 Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 does anybody know what is happening with channel racing with the UNC :
mealybar Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 France is a no no. Beligum have given racing the green light at the moment so we could get a few from there if the situation with AI doesnt change too much. If we get no racing from the channel the UNC plan to go to Eastbourne the weekends of each planned channel race, and charge channel birdage still. Bourges prices for Eastbourne!! - I wont be sending!!

carl Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Bourges prices for eastbourne, are they having a laugh or what, have you heard this from the unc management or just a rumour. It cost me £13 to send two birds to clermont never mind bourges
perk Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 that,s got to be a no no.i can imagine nfc charging £6 for 250 mile race there be nothing on the transporter
mealybar Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 A piece from the UNC Management Meeting held 16th Jan No. 1. To agree an alternative Inland Race Programme in the event that we are not allowed to compete from France. The Secretary informed the delegates that she had received a letter from the NEHU requesting the co-ordinates for the fourth channel race. After much discussion it was agreed that the Secretary does not travel to France to investigate alternative sites around the 450/470 mile to Hartlepool until racing from France is approved. It was unanimously agreed that before an inland programme be adopted other avenues be explored i.e. a race programme from Belgium. (a) It was proposed Mr. Buckley that two extra inland races be flown, and the date of the Folkestone OB National be postponed until 27th. May. This proposal rec. no sec. ( It was proposed Mr. Luke sec. Mr. Callan that Maidstone, Folkestone and Eastbourne are used as replacement race points. © It was proposed Mr. Shergold sec. Mr. Johnson that Folkestone race point be used for all races. (d). It was proposed Mr. Grant sec. Mr. Wright that the following programme be adopted: Folkestone OB National 13th. May Folkestone (Sub- Lillers I) 27th. May Eastbourne (Sub-Clermont) 10th. June Eastbourne (Sub- Bourges) 24th. June Folkestone OB National II 1st. July Folkestone (Sub- Etampes) 8th. July Eastbourne (Sub- Lillers II) 22nd. July. After a process of elimination proposal (d) was accepted. NOTE (a). If the inland programme is adopted the Melton Mowbray scheduled for Saturday 24th.June will not be allowed. Each Federation to choose an alternative date if they wish the race to continue as part of their race programme i.e. Bank Holiday Monday, or a Wednesday. (. The above programme is designed so that the UNC and the WDA are at the same point for the Queens Cup and the Spillers Race. ©. All races flown from Eastbourne will be race-marked on a Thursday, and basket charges will be as per channel costs. :-/ :-/
carl Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks for that richard, how can basket charges be as per channel cost if they are not crossing the channel,,i think they are in for a shock as theres no way people are going to pay £4.£5.£6 a bird to race inland.
southbankhs Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 i think they should look at this price charging again as if the pigeons go to eastborne/folkestone for say bourges where you would have had 2500/3000 birds at bourges i would say for one of the other two you are going to have over 10000 birds.I no all the channel boys/girls are going to miss out for a year but this could be a year for the unc to make profits then basket charges and alike (loft levys)are not pushed upon members in 2007??
Guest Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 A year to make a proffit, are you having a laugh, looking on the UNC site they are already making a proffit. They should charge normal inland prices for an inland race. If there are no channel races and eastbourne is the replacement, then why should they make a proffit out of it. If its channel prices very few people will send, if they just make a normal national race we will get a much better birdage.
southbankhs Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I AM NOT MEANING IT THAT WAY SBELBIN HOW MANY MEETINGS DO WE GO TO AT CLUBS AND THEY SAY COMBINE NEEDS THIS JUST ONE OFF PAYMENTS THEN RETURN TO MEMBERS THE YEAR AFTER FOR MORE WHAT I MEAN IF ALL RACES WERE CHARGED FOR INLAND NATS IE CHANNEL RACES THE BIRDAGE WOULD RISE GIVING COMBINE MORE PROFITS SURELY??
Guest Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Right, gotcha, then I agree, but still keeping fingers crossed for Belgium racing.
carl Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I agree leave the prices normal inland prices and the birdage will be high, and they will make there profit anyway.i do hope the channel is still on somehow
mealybar Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Inland basket charges have gone up 75p I think for next year anyway, the amount of baskets that go inland, thats a big hike in turnover!
southbankhs Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 YES CHARGES PER BASKET UP BY 75p AND NEHU HAVE PUT RINGS UP TO 30pEACH I DO BELIEVE???
mark Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 nobodys sends they will have to address the problem fanciers should not be hit in the pocket just because you cant race over the channel for the time being
Guest Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Wondered why UNC wasn't trying Belgium? Is this 'inland only' programme a contingency plan or the proposed 2006 programme?
mealybar Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 From what I've seen Belgium hasnt been discussed,, bearing in mind that I'm not on the patch at the moment maybe carl, sean or one of the other members could check the grape vine I'd have thought it must have done by now, its not like we havent raced there before (foot and mouth)
Guest Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 I was told this weekend that we are going to Belgium for the channel races and the Inland alternative were 'Just Incases'.
carl Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 From what I've seen Belgium hasnt been discussed,, bearing in mind that I'm not on the patch at the moment maybe carl, sean or one of the other members could check the grape vine I'd have thought it must have done by now, its not like we havent raced there before (foot and mouth) had a look on the unc website and couldnt find anyting saying maybe belgium, who told you this sbelbin
Guest Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Our club secretary told me on saturday that the belgiums have given the green light. I dont know if it is 100% fact, but he seemed to be convinced!!!
