A baby pigeon was starting it's recovery yesterday after hundreds of her feathers were torn out of her neck , back and breast  by a hooligan. A passer-by found the bird cowering under a dustbin in Gloucester. She is now at a wildlife recovery centre.

OMG!  What sort of a world do we live in.  I'd like to pluck him - and it wouldn't be his feathers I would be pulling off!!   >:( >:(     I hope that he has been caught and will be prosecuted.

With respect, seems to me a very professional looking pluck, not a feather trach missed, no broken ends, not a flesh cut in sight!!!

Clubmate tells me the way to pluck feathers from dead birds is to drop the carcase in boiling water for a few seconds, and all the feathers come away from the body. Wondered if this bird had an unfortunate encounter with a hot water outfall somewhere?
