superleeds Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 as a follow on from my last posting is it to early to start racing yes wesbury lofts it is a question asked every year .and ill put money on it being asked again next year.iam only a small team flyer my self go to work (on 3 shifts) so have to be care full when i train 10 cocks only and iam not going to throw them away.and no i have no problems with large team flyers as we all know it only takes on pigeon to win a race.
Mike Lycett Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Superleeds - you are right, but some Feds have got it right. Aberdeen Fed start onm 29th April - BANG ON!
Blue Chequer Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 I agree, we all start to early. In the 70s the UNC commenced on the middle weekend of April and finished mid Sept. for 23 races. Now we have 25 races and last year had the final race in October.(due to postponements). It's all about making more money and getting the transporters down the road, especially to the short young bird races.
westburylofts Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 I ALSO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING SUPERLEEDS I ALSO HAVE A SMALL TEAM OF OLD BIRDS 10 PAIRS, AND BELIVE IT OR NOT I ALSO WORK. ALL I AM SAYING IS LOOK AT THE NUMBER THAT DO SEND, AND LOOK AT HOW MANY THAT SAY IT IS TO EARLY, THAT ALSO SEND. LIKE I SAID BEFORE IF MY BIRDS ARE NOT READY OR THE WEATHER IS CRAP THEY DO NOT GO. THINK THAT IS CALLED GOOD MANAGEMENT. RAY
Blue Chequer Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Unfortunately RPRA rules say that averages are calculated by clocking from every race so this encourages fanciers to send when they would probably be better kept at home. Most of the clubs in the NEHU don't have averages, usually points systems which the members call averages.
Guest Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Far too many good pigeons lost been chasing averages
THE FIFER Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 FIFE FED FIRST RACE ON THE 29TH APRIL (LET'S HOPE)
westburylofts Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 WELL ALL I CAN SAY IS I AM NOT INTRESTED IN AVERAGES IF IT MEANS LOSING GOOD BIRDS OR ANY BIRDS FOR THAT MATTER THE POINTS SYSTEM THAT IN PLACE IN A LOT OF UNC CLUBS / FEDS SOUNDS THE WAY TO GO. RAY
