bewted Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 i have a cock bird that fights and disrupts the loft harmony,,,he fights anything in site, have locked him up for a few hours, but, fights all the time to get out,he is feeding a 14/15 day old young, his mate is is eggs, the only time when loft is running smooth is when he takes his turn to sit eggs, anybody have any ideas?
Guest Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Shackle his legs together with an elastic band, just give him enough room to walk, should settle him down in a few days
bewted Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 never heard of that one, but, try anything once,,,,he would of been gone by now, but,he is a real looker and powerfull, even for a pigeon,,,thanks hiacynth
jimmy white Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 yes i agree with hyacinth,, but ill bet you could play some tricks with that bird in the racing
Chatrace Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Put him in a nest box and slap him around a bit, let him know there is someone bigger and bader, lol Like linda said take 2 snapon bands and have a short string between them so he can't run, A smaller bird could do the slapping for ya then
bewted Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 yes jimmy, thought of all my old tricks from the past, but, unfortunately a stock bird, with the power he has in him,he would be gone in the blink of an eye if released, hope his youngsters can match him,,,,if yes, watch out bicc here i come!!!!

bewted Posted April 8, 2006 Author Report Posted April 8, 2006 hi linda and westy,,,,tried the rubber band trick,PEACE AND HARMONY,,,,,,,,very quiet cock bird now, but,as for him walking,,,,,laugh or what, looks pissed up from beer, hilarious but working,,,thanks for the tip linda,,,ted
Guest Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 What I did with a cock this year, was when he went charging in fighting wait till he is locked in battle then grab him from behind and drag him out quick so he falls to the ground. Every time he goes in repeat it - he then thinks he is getting his ass kicked by the other cock and the cock who's box it is gets brave and thinks he is wiping the floor with him. When they are fighting they don't notice its your hand dragging him out. Eventually after a few embarrasing knockouts the cock gave up and just looked after his own box. Incidentally the yearling cock who was losing out now rips my hands apart he is so defensive of his box. Incidentally did this with a cock last year and worked the same. Needs a bit of patience to stand in there and watch them. Hope this helps
