Guest Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 A Map of the 'Wild Bird Risk Area': http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Doc/915/0026441.pdf A Wild Bird Risk Area has been declared which stretches from near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire down to the Forth Road Bridge. In this area all poultry should be housed, and if this is not possible poultry should be separated from contact with wild birds. Full article: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Agr...nza/AIIntroduction Only managed to track down the legislation enacted today by following the Scotland.gov.uk link above ; gives access to the "H5 in wild birds" Order, PDF document 18 pages long; Basically says no movement of any captive birds within the wild bird protection area, and Ministers cannot review the Decision until a minimum 18 days has passed since Order invoked??
Guest Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Have posted an extract from the Order on the main avian flu thread. Order remains in force for 21 days or 30 days, depending on circumstances. They kept this one pretty quiet. >

jimmy white Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 things look all to unsure for anyone at the moment, it looks like we have to play it a day at a time, as things can change so quickly
Guest Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Think I agree with you Jimmy, what a difference a day makes! ;D Wednesday's worse case scenario was a 10km (6miles) quarantine zone ; Thursday it became 2500 sq km (1200 square miles) !!!! :'( But not to worry - Ross Finnie was out there today reassuring the great unwashed, walking up & down THAT slipway, where THAT dead swan was found, just to show everyone how safe everything was (now!). ;D We all know of course that 10 million gallons of disinfectant had already poured down the slipway, probably wiping out the last of our North Sea cod stocks in the process!! :'(
jimmy white Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 yes bruno thats the bits you dont see, nice to see ross finnie having a quiet dander, just to reasure us all??
Guest Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Who's Ross Finnie Sorry, Hyacinth, should have remembered how broad the forum is. Ross Finnie is the Scottish Parliament Minister in charge of Ministry of Food & Fisheries (MAFF), the Scottish equivalent of DEFRA.
