Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 The UNC cancelled this week so obviously my widowhoods have had a week off and ive had them broken down since friday morning then back onto Gerry+ this morning. They are now driving me mad and are flying for longer than I want them too, which I know most will say this is a good thing, but is this too early in the week for them to be bouncing and splitting off in all directions, and would a midweek chuck back to their hens calm them down a bit?
Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Don't worry, just carry on as normal, most certainly do not toss them back to the hen
speedbird Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 i would let em out as normal are they eating ok? but do not let them out friday at all!!!!
AlanWilkins Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 might sound daft but why have they cancelled this weeks race??
carl Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 might sound daft but why have they cancelled this weeks race?? Alan it was last weeks race from northweald that was put back.
Guest Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Speedbird, they have started to leave half of their food, I know its all the signs of them been on blob, but I am worried they will burn themselves out by saturday. I think its because I built them up last week and kept them in on friday, so they were expecting to see their hens!
Guest Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Mike I would never train a widower after his first race, no matter how long he stayed at home. Shelbin, If they loose appetite early in the week, then simply miss their morning feed.
speedbird Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 do not show there hens as this will result them to sulk if they still fit & flying well theres nothing wrong with them do you have peanuts as mine always eat them if they go off there food
Guest Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Speedbird, Yes Im following the V-Laga gerry+ feeding system, so they are getting 2 peanuts in thier nightly feed. Hopefully they will be OK, but the forecast looks bad again for saturday. Cheers, Stephen
speedbird Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 yeah it does well i add extra peanuts towards the end of week no the distance is increasing also when they usually go off there food they will always eat peanuts they love em
speedbird Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 yeah forecast doesnt look promising thunderstorms!!!
Guest Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Fingers crossed it will change over the next day or so. The www.weather.co.uk seems to change its mind every day.
