This pigeon is a ribbontail - this is 100% not syrian and the family of pigeons this is from are Russian e.g volga tumblers etc.  - I do not think there is such a pigeon as syrian subuni -There is a colour pattern in the mardin tumbler, which is a dilute bar which is sometimes called a subuni. There is an Indian chap in West London - Name Jitu who has these he brought them back from Germany. Number 07957 334401. If he has them for sale they will not be cheap !!

Duncan, I do not think that the pigeon you show is either syrian or purebred, however it is a bonny pigeon. I have spent much time with middle eastern and foreigh fanciers and as i said am used to the term sabuni to express a colour in the mardin tumblers (similar to the one you show), I have seen many other syrian breeds, but hey nobody is always right !  Do you mean syrian coop tumbler very similar to the Mardin (takla)

Sorry Adam I do not own or show these, my mate bought them while in london from guy at a show. He only bought a pair and would like more, Steph thinks that they may be these from Germany.....PFUNGSTADT PIGEONS

Every country has its own version of a breed. I had a pigeon identical to this years ago that was sold to me as a berliner short faced tumbler but didn't have the slightly arched neck and neck shake which people look for in the berliner SF. I have a pigeon like this now which is from a polish guy they know them as a blauwinderic (not sure of the spelling) it has a more yellow ground colour but has the pronounced yellow bar.

I think you might be right about this bird being a ribbontail or startail tumbler.

There is such a bird as a syrian sabuni - according to "Levi" it is a performing tumbler, and only comes in cream barred colouration. It is feather footed and is a new breed in America(1954).

Is this any help?
