EdBar Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 How difficult is it to breed Trumpeters? Are there any big differences than with other pigeons? Do nest boxes have to be on the floor or very low? Thanks, Ed.

Do nest boxes have to be on the floor or very low? Thanks, Ed. I used to keep German Double Crested Trumpeters which are very similar to the English. When I paired them up I used to cut the muffs right back. For nest boxes I cut a side out of an old 20 litre plastic drum and stand them on the loft floor. For nesting material I used shavings. Hope this helps.
Guest beautyhomer Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Forgot to mention,at the end of the breeding season they can be taken out of the loft and power washed clean ready for next time.
Glassfeather Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Forgot to mention,at the end of the breeding season they can be taken out of the loft and power washed clean ready for next time. Isn't that a bit cruel? Wouldn't they be better with a bath?
