>:( Please help - have had two attacks on young birds from sparrowhawk.  Since then they are extremely jumpy (understandable) but now they just won't fly - won't come out of the shed, I have to shoo them out, they whizz round in a circle about 10 feet off the ground at 90 miles an hour then after about 5 minutes they land on the shed roof venting like mad.  They have been "cleaned out" thorougly and injected.  Any suggestions would be gratefully received, while I still have some hair left to pull out!!!

firstly never chase them out of the shed!!! as thats there safe place from things like hawks & not for geting you!! as when they come home from a race the shed is a safe haven they will start to come out in due time why not try & let some old birds out at the same time to encourage them theres no great rush to make them fly again let them build up there confidence again

i had exactly the same problem a few years ago, all i could do was , try my best to regain their confidence, open loft every day at the same time, and try and encourage them outside with a little red band ,and made sure i was there all the time, then tried the bath after a few days , they gradually got going buy it took about 3 weeks to get the jumpiness out of them, but each day they improved with a little t, l, c, so i wish you the best of luck  c,p,

alright mate great advise up there 1 more thing may i add is to get a canary or a gold finch mule and place it outside your shed "make sure its a cock" and when it sings the pigeons will know its safe and theres no sparrow hawks out there, that might help, i always have my mule outside the shed

Try screwing some CD's on and around your loft, Not tightly down let them move a little in the wind, I know several people that suffered badly with sparrow hawk attacks, now they have no trouble at all. Seems the hawks cant stand the reflected light.
