dazza 24 Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 following on from the debate about true national winners, what really naffs me off is the false advertising of 42 winners in a season and numerous first national wins advertised freely in the racing press when in actual fact they have only won lets say a gold ring race within a national or an old hens race within a national. It is time that adverts and claims of glory are substantiated in order for these people to stop selling lies to other fanciers. The fancy press and respective homing unions should vet all adverts before allowing them and stop all the false advertising.
Guest Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 while i agree entirley with you and see where you are coming from it would be virtually impossible to vet al adverts that get submitted to the fancy press. this would take hours upon hours to achive. the only way they could aford to do this is to put the price of the paper up and i think you will agree if they did this it would cause even more people to be unhappy.
dazza 24 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 point taken - then it must be down to the rest of us to say wait a minute that is simply not true. I have taken up this point with editors and they are not prepared to do anything - why would they as it would impact on their revenues. don't know what else could be done but these misleading and false claims must be stopped. I saw an advert recently claiming that his pigeons had won nationals for him and others and i can't remember him even winning a club race. It is a disgrace and wouldn't be allowed in any other walk of life.
