Guest Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Put all the electronic chip rings on the birds last night. Your birds look great Jimmy, both cocks, you chose the right one off Motown Missile, I took the blue bar for the futurity, which is the bird which was injured, sent him on a short toss yesterday and at the moment he is AWOL. Training them from 75 miles this morning, keeping an eye on the weather though, looks like we have some thunder rolling in, so I will have to call Steve on the cellphone and get them brought back.
Guest Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Got them up, sent 55, left a few at home I wasn't happy with, got 50 on the drop in 1 hour 46 minutes 10 seconds which is about 1416 ypm. 2 out 1.2 hour after 1st arrivals, both yours in first drop Jimmy

Guest Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 The Barmy Army are doing just great, unfortuanately I'm down one from this mornings toss, but it's only 1 am and he may be back later, not sure which bird it is. I am 6 birds down from when I started training them early June. The White Platoon are all present and accounted for. They won't be trainied tomorrow but rested for the 100 mile training toss on Saturday morning. Next Saturday is our club official training race from 100 miles, we have a training race just to make sure all the ets rings are working correctly before the first official race the following Saturday from 125 miles. I may not fly the club trainer, our birds have been trained every day with Don's birds, but most of the other flyers have not had their birds out with other teams and it's lkely to be a real muck up. To be honest I think a lot of the young bird losses is caused by not giving them enough training, ours have been on the road 5 days a week since June.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 well done, linda,a real big WELL done
jimmy white Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 proud of you linda,,your putting a lot of effort in to them , remember when lot 41 wins[notice i say when, and not if, ;D ;D ;D] remember and send the prize money to me,, and not clockie ;D ;D ;D ;D,,,,,,,,best of luck linda
Guest Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 You'd better be here to collect the prize money yourself
Guest Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 I'm not going to make a decision on training from 100 miles tomorrow until late this evening. We have a wild fire a few miles from here that seems to be getting out of control as they started evacuating poeple late yesterday. I'm not going to risk putting the birds up when they will have to fly back through miles of smoke.
jimmy white Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 quiet right linda just shows you what you have to put up with there, certainly hope it doesnt become serious,,,,,,only wildfire here is speckled ;D ;D ;D [ill suffer for that one] ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 The way things look at the moment training is off Jimmy unless the winds change drastically, the smoke has all but covered the sun. WE're hping they may have it under control later today as they have evacuated some houses in the near vacinity. choppers going in with huge bags of water and seen the smoke jumpers plane go over.
Guest Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Training cancelled Saturday and I smell like "Guy Fawkes" bloody awful here today
jimmy white Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 cetainly hope things are improving now,,,were just not used to things like that in scot,
jimmy white Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 if its your first race linda on sat, will you keep us posted
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 No it's not the first race for 2 weeks, we have a 80 mile club trainer Tuesday of next week, but I'm not sending, as, it is well of the line I've been training on, and the following Saturday is the Club 100 Mile trainer, which is directly on our line of flight so they will be going to that. still no training due to smoke, hopefully will get them out tomorrow to 35 miles and from 35 miles the rest of the week until Saturday when they will go 100 miles, being released with Don's birds.
jimmy white Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 glad to hear that smoke is clearing now, it must have been some fire, anyway glad to hear your off with the barmy army again ,and im sure the forum members will be pleased to hear of their performances, best of brittish luck , hyacinth [and sgt white and colonel jim ;D]
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 The fire is still burning Jimmy, but the wind has changed sending the smoke in the opposite direction, about 1000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
jimmy white Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 not so very good, hope there were no one injured, but a big upheavel for a lot of people, lets hope they can get it under control
Guest Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Thanks for your kind thoughts Jimmy, fortunately there were no injuries and it seems like they have things under control tonight, as we can now see the lights in Town, the smoke has blanked them out for days now. We have another wild fire, not as serious, and it is north of our line of flight, so training is on for Tuesday, sending them 35 miles. Good luck with Dr's visit, hope it's good news
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Got them up from 35 miles today had all 58 on the drop, not as fast as I would have liked them, just over an hour. BIG DAY tomorrow (tuesday) They go out to the 100 mile marker and are being released with Don's birds. Steve's small team of Van Reets had problems today a prairie falcon must have got in them, took all day for some of them to come home, at dark he's 19 back from 20
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Sent all 58 out to 108 mile trainer this morning, had 50 on the drop in 2 hours 12 minutes
jimmy white Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 very good indeed linda,, hows the temprature there now,,still hot? hope the fire has settled down now hosp visit went well , to go on ,,,anti tnf treatment, inject myself twice a week but wont start till about 6 to 8 weeks [usual rigmarole] hopefully save any ops
