I have been able to get some yb's from a local fancier who has sadly passed away

they have not been raced or trained, but they have been flying out for a while.

How would you go about breaking them out to the new loft,

do not think i will be able to collect them from there old loft as they have gone.

could always remove the cut off flighs manually after they have settled and they will grow back

i have only done this once and it worked for me

but does cause a lot of stress to the pigeon by removing the flights

if you get an elastic band and loop it round one wing

after a week take out a couple of flights from inside the band a so on for the next couple of weeks the birds will have learned where they now live

because each week they can fly to the loft roof and then in the sky

this way there is no need to cut their wings

id be inclined to put them in a basket or wire crate on top ofthe loft every day give them a handfull of grub in it let them see all around then let them out hungry after your own birds have had their fly, late evening but wouldnt pull a flight out as this usualy grows in slightly shorter , or i would go along with ace,

wot ive always done is make sure the bird has plenty to see outside ur cot...in a flight would be best.

get them used to being in ur cot and when u go in there feed them small seeds to get used to u...peanuts would be better.after u see them behaving like the rest of ur birds then the day b4 u let them out keep their feed very light(so their hungry  but not starving).then when u let them out dont excite them in anyway, try to sit down and feed them small seeds...conditioner is ideal.

after they been out for a while put them back into the cot  and feed them a full feed.

peanuts can be very good for calming ur birds down when ur there with them.

after a few times out by the cot they will know that they will get a feed when they go back in....i always let new youngsters come out after 5pm at night till i get them under control.

what ive always done to break pigeons out,is make sure they see alot around the loft, which i would basket them up and look around the area. Then i would try to get them down on a nest of eggs.and when you let them out make sure there hungry, and let them just walk outside the loft you dont want them flying straight out, just let them wonder if you have any nervous pigeons best of not letting them out with the pigeon/s that your breaking out cos they could get them up in the sky before ready to.weve always done this when breaking out pigeons and this year a cock we broke out flew lerwick where in the london north road combine only two were in racing time lol this pigeon was no were two weeks late lol
