jimmy white Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 unfortunately its not hard to see that pigeon racing is a dying sport,,but its still there, and as long as its there , theres room for improvement,if each fancier went out their way to get one person , be them old ,young, male, or female, interested in the pigeons and involved with them , there would soon be more fanciers, i say this because many of us are too interested ourselves and our results to be bothered with this, a young person is only too keen if you let them see and handle ybs in the nest etc , then let them" own" a couple of birds, ive had this in the past, and went to the parents house and explained[for safety reasons] then had the father comming round to see "his sons" birds, then the father became interested,,and with the son pestering his mum and dad, managed to get a loft and a few birds and began racing them [the father is a very good fancier now]the young lad then became interested in the other birds, and for a while the pigeons took a back seat,, now that lad is married with a family and since started on his own [but not as good a flier as his father ;D ;D g.b ;D] so it can be done,,,,,,,then theres keith ;D took an interest in my birds at 11 years old and helped me a lot , now 18 going to get married just so he can get a house and garden to race pigeons ooh [its agood job i know his girl freind well ;D ;D ;D] ,,then theres gv top flier in club now ,better not say his age as hes getting older now ;D started him off at about 12year old and will joke ,ive never forgiven you for starting me up ;D ;D so it really is possible if we make the effort, and make it fun
