little sam Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Hi all i have a queston to ask about my tumbler,, is there a reason that it wont tumble or flip what ever you want to call it ,, :-/ :-/
storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 hi sam it could be a show tumbler rather than a flying tumbler
Guest bigda Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 hi try feeding change say feed depurative or barley for 2 weeks it might be over weight
storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 hi bidga depurative is not a bad idea but i wouldnt use the barley
jimmy_84 Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 sorry to but in on this thread but what is best to feed rollers i have just bought 8 of them i had racers before but have had a hawk strike a few weeks back so i found an advert with birmingham rollers for sale so i bought some for my son and a friend of mine is breeding me some racers for myself but the seem to only pick certain bit out of the mixed corn i am feeding them
storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 hi jimmy if you are just flying them give them just weat but watch them when they are eating and make sure they are getting enough as some times they dont take to it very well
jimmy_84 Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 the feed i am giving them now what i got in has maize wheat and some sort of pea in it the tumblers we had before used to eat it and flew fine only had these a day but when i fed them they left the maize but the chap i got them from said that is all he fed them so i am in a pickle over what to do will wheat on its own be enough for them and is there any way to tell cock from hen i can tell in racers but these i just cant tell there a mix of yearlings and this years young and i want to try pairing the yearlings up and get a round of young from them before they fly out
storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 wheat is ok for flying them on but if you are planing on breeding off them give them young bird mix and the easy way to stop them leaving certain seeds is not to feed them till the feeders are empty

storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 jimmy just put some nest bowls in with them and watch them you will soon no cocks from hens
jimmy_84 Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 ok cheers pal do they need to be in boxes or just on the loft floor
storm rollers Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 personally i never put bowls on the floor the main reason the birds that nest in them are never left to settle by the other birds so boxes would be better
Guest shadow Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 go to the shops and get some crisp boxs and stack them on top of each other that will serve as a temporary measure
little sam Posted June 11, 2008 Author Report Posted June 11, 2008 Hi all its not over weight and can fly upto an hour with the race birds ,, just wonderd if there was a definate reason no matter its well trained dropper at that ;)
