Guest Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 John, there's a lot of competition out there in what must be a dwindling market ... people going out the game very year so over the long haul a market in definite decline. If you do go into it, you'll need an edge of some sort. If I was so inclined, I'd definitely try organic supplier. Organic produce sells at a premium. Don't have the figures, but definitely a growing market. Might get same return selling 100 bags organic as your 'ordinary' competitor does selling 125/130 bags? I've posted elesewhere that I'd be interested in knowing a supplier for organically grown grains suitable for pigeons. Have read a bit about the conditions for organic certification and all the pesticides and fertiliser crap etc that can't be used when growing organic produce, nor are preservatives allowed post-production. Have converted in the last month to organic garlic and organic cider vinegar. On the 'ordinary' cider vinegar front, had noted it contained a preservative E223. Will finish what's left of that bottle myself on me salads, but the organic stuff is in the fridge for the birds when needed.
