If they wont buy them in his own country why should we want to buy them over here??????????? ;)

Can see where you are coming from anyway too late I had a few beers and did end up buying a couple well 4 to be precise the old man hit the roof when I come back.

"buying foreign sh** etc etc on why can't you learn by all the money and mistakes I spent and made when I started blah blah blah blah blah.''

In my defence I didn't pay silly money like some people did paid £40 each for the birds and bought 4 all janssens, 2 cheq hens, 1 cheq cock, and a redback red hen looks a bit like my redfox ones I got off Les. All really nice young uns look in healthly condition despite the long trip from amsterdam. Got some beautifully written pedigrees which are prob a pile of bollocks but we'll get the birds hanted up and maybe train them and see how they do with the young off them.

I'll pop some photos up on here sometime so people can see what they look like

mate do what my mate done he bought a direct son of the legend train em and race em,the pigeon topped the fed 3 times and he just gave it to a member of our club, funnily enough he wouldnt give the hen up but he didnt mind parting with his 3 times a fed winner, strange hey!LOL!but with beverdams pigeons considering what the lines are id race them!and stuart is right the belgiums call england the dumping ground of pigeons!

It was really wierd last night mate pigeons that looked a load of sh** all hunched up and looked ill and owt over were selling well yet some lots where the birds looked great in perfect health and looked like nice balanced pigeons were going for nowt.

Asked my dad about it and he said people were prob just chasing pedigrees.

Beaverdam had some lovely long distance birds dark pied beautiful.

Was going to stcik them in the stock loft mate bought them because am short of hens but I'd be doing what I've always said I'd never do stick untried pigeons in there and I don't like keeping prisioners so its bad enough with my dads old birds let alone these. So going to get them hanted, train them a bit this winter, breed some youngs off them to race then put them through the training programme with the young un's next year only toss them well after the young uns. Then possibly do a couple of old bird races with them.

If they breed nowt then they will go in the big clearout I will be having after my first season.

Do you race beaverdams mate?

YEA I GOT SOME BEVERDAM BLOOD IN MY PIGEONS BUT IM SLOWLY DWINDLING IT OUT TO BE HONEST,NOT GUNNA SAY THERE sh** PIGEONS COS IVE HAD PIGEONS THAT HAVE DONE WELL BUT THEM PIGEONS ARE ONLY A 1/4 BEVERDAM,LIKE HAD 30TH OPEN WHITTION CASTLE LAST YEAR WITH ONE BRED SIMULAR,AND THE REST EITHER LEFEBRE DHAENENS AND MARCELLIS,AND THE LAFFY DAFFYS AND MARCELLIS TO BE HONEST ARE THE PIGEONS CRACKING AWAY IN MY LOFTS,ODDLY EVERY NOW AND THEN A VAN LOON,BUT HOPEFULLY THESE M & D EVENS AND MELDERTS PIGEONS I HAVE BROUGHT IN THESE SEASON WILL CRACK AWAY!

Posted

Hopefully you will do well with the M&D Evans a lot of people seem to be winning well with their blood. To be honest I'm going to give these beaverdams and the rest of the janssens a go next season and if I feel they are not up to scratch I will stick to Busschaerts and get some decent ones from one of my dads mates who is still flying and winning.

Anybody going to any of them like?

I might check out the Belmont Social club one as near to me. Won't buy anything like just go to see what prices are like etc

FAMOUS LAST WORDS BEER SHOULD BE BANNED STILL JUST AS WELL I DIDN'T OPEN MY WALLET MORE THAN ONCE OTHERWISE THE MOTHS WOULD HAVE ATE THE PIGEONS

I honestly had no intention to buy I've spent weeks of lstening to the old blokes wisdom on buying pigeons "entire clearance sale blah blah only buy pigeons with at least 3 positions to their names, blah, blah blah, foreign crap better pigeons in england blah blah busschaerts are best blah blah, don't spend any money I'll see some of the old contacts blah blah.''

Well after a few cheeky bottles of brown ale and looking at some of the birds who were good looking pigeons it all went out the window. doh!!!!

Still you never know pigeon racing is all a gamble they might breed me something or chalk as yearlings if I train them.

The old mans not speaking worse thing is I didn't have the balls to admit I had bought four. He knew I had brought something cause I had to get the wellies on to go down the allotments at 10 at night. But I said I had only bought one he'll have a fit when he looks in the shed. I might change the locks so he can't get in.

he's got a webpage

Just noticed on the website picures one of his cree has an asbestos cement roof damn I wish I had known before I would have done him an asbestos survey and management plan to protect him from the danger os asbestos. He could have given me a few birds as my fee and a holiday in holland lol.

My pigeons better not have asbestosis or he will be getting a strongly worded letter

Only joking asbestos cement is classed as a low risk product by the HSE due to the fibres being strongly bonded into the cement matrix and it having a low content.

As most people know Jimmy Cowan's Bereavement Sale is OCT 22nd SUNDAY.

I have just heard the news that Jimmy won the following in Shiremoor HS. INLAND AVE,CHANNEL AVE and COMBINED AVE, yes the COMBINED AVERAGE and no youngbirds were raced. Another great season, Debra was very pleased to hear the news. Alf Rothwell
