Can anyone please  guide me im starting out i am currently finishing my loft

and am interested in working theif pouters they say the cuban theif pouter is the best but i also read that the horseman thief pouetr is so which one? thats the first question second how would i train them to go and come back there is a hufe racing loft about 35 to 4omile away fromme willpouters be able to return from such distances i basically need to knmow when to stsrt training them and how far away to realease em

if im correct they are played from the loft into the local area, allpoutershave different styles i would guess the horsemans very adaptable for playing away as in you can cross them into a racer and back again to increase there range and i have spoken to players who trained sutch birds 25+ miles as youngsters..the big doo flyers up north are the daddys with these birds maybe if you contact the glasgow feather club on the web you will get good advice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I dont think horseman pouters will come back from 35-40 miles they usually get sent only a couple of miles to another loft  if you catch them and they dont come back, as gangster said if you x them with racers then maybe, thats what im going to be doing for a while crossing horseman with racers to improve there distances hopefully :)

as for the cuban theifs & spanish pouters ive heard they are a lot better at flying distances.

thief pouters will only fly around your loft area depending on the bird it usualy flys out and around the area looking for other pouters to tread it will not go beyond ahalf mile radius of its loft  you must have it paired to another in order to break it it will go out for a fly lasting a few minutes then return to loft then out again they must be tame in order for you to work them they go out when you whistle and come in as soon as you call straight to you hand even if they have just been fed they are very friendly to the owner

hello  i only stay 2minutes fromthere can see it from my window there around 8 pouter lofts and 6 racing lofts in that area. greenock its self has 21 members in the homing club and around 60 pouter lofts not bad for an area about 15 mils long
