Wiley Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 couldnt, you just breed out of the pair you are getting then either get a cock or hen to go with the young bird you breed, could save ya money?

Blue Chequer Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 There are plenty of Horsemen pouters available in Scotland. I don't know what the going rate is but they shouldn't be too expensive.
Guest Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 a good lady doo as they call it would cost you 15 quid thats if you were lucky as in the parkhead doo shop everyone wants a good hen so the fairest way to do it is wheneva the hen comes up for sale they ask for 15 rite away and half the shop puts up their hands then the cards are delt and showed to everyone the highest card wins they keep dealing down to the last card ,i have listened to these guys in parkhead a few times most of them cross the big blower doos with either an ex racer or a tumbler hen select the best young that looks more like the pouter and cross it back in they keep this up for three or four generations or untill all they have are looking more like pouters they dont go in for the big huge blowers but prefer a nice rounded crop type for flying ,

Glassfeather Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 What ones are classed as "Thief pouters" :-/ The ones that capture other pigeons.
DOVEScot Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 The ones that capture other pigeons. Are they all like that :-/
Glassfeather Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 No, it's a bit like the homers, some of them are clueless. There are lots of varieties of Pouter Pigeons, too many to list, see the site on the link below for more info, click on "Pouter Breeds". Some of them are bred solely for exhibition purposes, some are allowed to fly just for the enjoyment of having them flying around. Others, such as Horseman and the Spanish croppers, as well as the Dutch Tils, which are not so much a breed but a blend of breeds, are used as thieves. http://www.gentsekropper.be/gentsekropper/gentsekropper_e.php?f=0
