Guest bristolkev Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 is there any patricular charactarics to look for when selecting widowhood cocks for the coming season ie,loud and aggressive and have no fear or quiet and shy cocks who just keep to themselves. i`m gonna try widowhood for the first time this year and have 14 cocks but only 12 boxes.so i want to take 2 cocks away.do i remove the more quiet ones and keep the ones that are a bit louder so to speak.
Guest cloudview Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 my opinion only keep the quiet one,s the other one,s are usually all mouth no trousers
jimmy white Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 in my experience i have found the birds with the quiet temprement [not timid] travel better and race better in longer races ,,but it takes all kinds
Beanz Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 before I ever tried widowhood I watched another fanciers widowhood cocks in the basket and one of them was roaring round the basket, being a bit thick as regards widowhood flying I told him that was keyed up and would probably win, his reply was yes its keyed up but it won't win by the time it gets to the racepoint it will be knackered, always have the quiet ones which show there vitality when racing. By the way he won the race but not with that pigeon told me it came about 30 minutes after his first bird.
