Guest ljb107 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 try clipping there vent feathers both hen and cock, works for my kings. I had to do this with my kings but I plucked their rumps instead of clipping them.
molloy Posted April 4, 2009 Author Report Posted April 4, 2009 laid about 6 eggs this year and not one of them fertile the birds are about 2 year old ive trimmed um today so ill see what happens
jimmy white Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 try popping a wheatgerm capsule down them,,,or mix wheatgerm in there food might just help, selenium and zinc may help, but sometimes when the weather gets warmer, nature might just take its course
Peckedhen Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 The best hen (2 years old) in my loft produced empty eggs all last year. This year I changed the cock and she laid three rounds all empty again but, at last she's got two full eggs!! I've no idea why. :-/ :-/
Runt3 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 should i trim back the head feathers clipping there vent feathers And it sould be OK thats what my M8 did with his and run the egs
Guest ljb107 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 It would be better to pluck about 1cm around the rump so he can make better contact because if you just clip them, the feathers will still be i the way. I would also clip the hood around the head. Lloyd
