If their ultimate goal is to send to the YB National, then Scottish Federation members need to agree that this is their goal, and vote for a Federation YB programme designed to help meet it.

Our YB Fed programme is 60 to 180 miles. There are two races at 60 then two @ 80 before we move onto single stages. It is known that members split their YB team between 1st & 2nd races. Personally I don't see much difference between a 60 mile race and an 80 mile one for starting my youngsters and I look at it as having 4 chances to start individual birds, or groups of birds. Either way our Fed isn't getting the maximum birdage in these early races: costs remain the same but income is down.

As for existing 'jumps'. I can see 20 miles ... from Main Street, Redding to Wallace Monument, Stirling. If I can see that distance from 30-40' up the hill, how far can a pigeon see when 100-200' up in the air? Maybe the 'jumps' just aren't big enough?
