help my mating should already have started, and my breeding is next week.

i had everything planed out, i know which cock and hen would go together, but all :-/ of a sudden im mixed up it seems like some of my hens are dancing a

little like males, even thought one of them is a proven fermale, my males are not dancing to the females at all!!! iv seen my fav grizzle hen do a little cooing and blow up her trought, but so has one of my proven females. help how can i sex my breeders?

can anyone explain why my hens are cooing and dancing and fighting each other, one of them is a proven female 8 years old :-/. the other is a new 2 year old.

dont let it worry u as this is common and some females do look like cocks when they are defending or just showing off to other hens....paul :)

I find that hens are every bit as demonstrative as cocks, they'll fight off other hens to be a cock's sole attention and they'll sweep and crow as good as any cock can. When in their nest box they'll see off all but the strongest of marauding cocks.

 

Would reckon there's been a rise in temperatures where you live and a bit more sunshine than of late ... it sure stirs them up.  :)

yes its been warm and the hens come from a cold loft into a warm sunny greenhouse, but im puzzled why the cock ignore the females

take the hens out for a day or two then put them back together should make them keener

i dont have them together i did yesterday, but the females can see the males from thair cage

i have white hen and a grizzle cock im trying to MATE THEM AND ITS NOT WoRKING i have had them togeter for 3 days and they just sit there doing nothing, i have even tried the hen with my only other cock and they dont even look at each other! what sell i do right now shes in a crate with the grizzle!.... what shell i do?

Leave the pair in a section on their own for 2/3 days and let nature take its course.
