chaz Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 I wonder if anyone can help me I am looking for either 2 roller hens or 4 roller y/b`s , I am trying to set my nephew a small kit up and purchased him 2 pairs today for his birthday, but due to an accident (my fault) the 2 hens have gotten out and gone and these were the last 2 pairs from somebody giving up so can`t replace from the same source, I am hoping to either replace the hens or find some y/b`s to get him a start , I will pay a reasonable price and will travel a reasonable distance from Tamworth Staffs Thanks in advance Chaz

Guest bigda Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 its a shame about the rollers in this day, as they are getting decimated but are the the best pigeon to help the fancier and save the pigeon sport, i feel they attract the peregrine and if they had the jackets fitted they could save the sport of pigeon racing the jacket would help although the bird would possibly die with shock as the peregrine will only strike in flight mainly we need something to combat that as that's the racing pigeons enemy the town peregrine is not interested in the townie"s as it cant catch them as the townie is not in the air long enough to swoop down on, not like a racing pigeon who is trained to keep coming home that gives the peregrine the ideal chance to set up an ambush from a great height, one peregrine in among a fed can send the birds into trees all over the place the sparrow hawk is bad, but easy to control, but nothing to compare to the peregrine strike, the only defence we have is to meet the peregrines on the line of flight with the jacket on take the bird take the jacket, if that is done we will return to the days when birds all returned home
