Elvan Willgrass Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 In the Homing World last week there was an article on page 81 that read the NEHU has voted that ETS will be accepted in 2008. As I have not heard anything about this I wondered if this was definite. :-/

Guest Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 well I was never consulted!!!!!!!!!! hope we can still use clocks the sport is expensoive enough as it is especially as most clubs have just got new clocks from the lotto grants Not compulsory .. Our club has just won an award for ETS; Secretary phoned members telling them & asking if they wanted the ETS kit; at least one member has said no, he's 84 years of age and underwent a hip-replacement op 3 years ago.
Guest CS Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I hope so ;D Give us a reason why you hope so? .
davebuttle Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I know we cannot afford it, and we prefer to race with a sliding door after the bird has returned, and the ETS can only be used with a simple small entrance so the bird passes over within a couple of cms. If i got ETS she (er indoors) would probably make me go shopping then!! Dave
stevebelbin Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Give us a reason why you hope so? . LOL - because I want it in my loft, so I can send the birds and if I cant be at the loft they can still be clocked in. And so during the week I can train the birds and get an idea of what time they arrived home etc. I dont get the prob with people not wanting it ;D
BIGK Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 This is going to be 1 of the most contraversial changes to racing pigeons in the uk for many years, and I for 1 can see both sides of the argument. How on earth can you make rules that will allow for 1 mans birds to have a rubber ring on its leg that needs to be removed, entered into a thimble and then timed into a clock, and another guys birds who dont need to have a rubber ring that needs removing just an electronic ring that is recorded on a computer that is held at the loft. Thats 1 point, another is if these are little micro chips in the rings then can they be cloned?? they manage to break into bank websites and accounts, they can even copy your chip on your credit card so can the electronic ring be cloned?? I think so!! But on the other hand it could help some people out, not sure who but some, people are quoting "it will help the disabled" but who do you class as disabled?? there are fanciers who time in now using the current system who are blind, in wheel chairs and various other disabilities who are enjoying their racing just as much as we do, and i have been told off 1 guy not to use him as an excuse!! so no doubt the debate will go on! But as an NEHU member I didnt think it had been passed for next year just that a group was being set up to investigate the changes required in the rules, but hey im only a member.
tony99 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 i carnt c the prob if uwant to use it use it if not dont
