Guest Vic Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 The Fifer! Yellows are obviously not banana coloured, but when you see a proper one, you will never forget the colour. It seems that many of you have never seen a true yellow. Vic.
THE FIFER Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 The Fifer! Yellows are obviously not banana coloured, but when you see a proper one, you will never forget the colour. It seems that many of you have never seen a true yellow. Vic. so what is a true yellow ????
Guest Vic Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 As i mentioned previously, surely someone, somewhere, can show us all, the colour of a true yellow. Vic.
THE FIFER Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 so what is the colour of a true yellow Vic??????
Guest Vic Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 It is nearer to a silver than a red. Vic.
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 the fifer's yellows are dilute ash red checkers but they are still true yellows no matter what some of you think. The other type of yellow as I have previously posted is a dilute recessive yellow.I have found a pic of a modena on the internet. Both colours are true yellow just a different genetic make up.
barlbylofts Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 any one got any yellow ybs to sell im in mark barlbylofts
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Not to be rude but they just look like light reds to me. Ive never seen a yellow though As I have posted before yellows are dilute reds. The key word being dilute, so they are bound to look like light reds because that is what they are.Reds and yellows have the same colour gene but yellows also have the colour modifying gene dilute. Its not rocket science : :
ticeye Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 remember back in the sixies a fancier who raced yellow kirkpatricks and did realy well with them they were a light orange/yellow colour nothing like any of the photos shown
ticeye Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 found site about rare coloured homing pigeons Ron Huntleys Rare Coloured Homing Pigeons good imformation on recessive colours and photos as well
Guest Vic Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Tickeye, put the web site on, and let us all see a true yellow. vic.
Guest Vic Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Perhaps the one that I seen was a one off job, but a guy called Jimmy Timpson finished up with it, I think it came from theLiverpool Fed. Vic.
ticeye Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 sorry m8s www.angelfire.com/ga/huntleyloft/
Guest Vic Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Tickeye, at last! Excellent site. Cheers. The nearest to my yellow, is termed by these brilliant guys, KHAKI. But it's more yellower than any illustrated so far. ;D ;D ;D Have a look at the site, and you will see my point. Also have a gander at the Khaki recessive red yb. That is about the nearest to the one that was called a yellow in Liverpool some twenty years ago.I still think that MY YELLOW IS MORE YELLOWER THAN THOSE SHOWN ON PIGEON BASICS ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Vic.
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Khaki is nothing more than a dilute brown as it states on the web page and is recognised as such the world over, not a yellow. THere is no such thing as a khaki recessive red,the photo is of a dilute recessive red which I have illustated with the modena photo allready.
Guest Vic Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Why aren't yellows listed on the site then? Vic.
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 http://www.angelfire.com/ga/huntleyloft/yellow.html Yellow appears in the text when describing dilute reds.In genetic circles it is taken as granted that dilute reds are yellows. : : Yellows are not listed because they are a combination of genes that are listed seperately,i.e.dilute,ash red and recessive red.
symbro Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 EVERYONE ELSE there are actually three types of yellows Dilute Redash which is a beautiful cream like colour Dilute Recessive Red which is also a Beautiful colour Extreeme Dilute blue - this colour sometimes called Ecru. this colour is supposed to be almost white and under certain light a bright yellow. it is not a well spread gene so i have not personally seen one
symbro Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 here is a nice picture of the recessive red on left and dilute recessive red on right
symbro Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 errr try again... that was just the recessive red... here is the dilute recessive red
symbro Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 here are four websites with pictures and information http://www.slobberknockerlofts.com/lazy_r_loft/ http://www.barnhartlofts.com/genetics.htm http://www.angelfire.com/ga/huntleyloft/ http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/pigeongenetics/ bottom three are genetics pages....
Jack Barkel Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Extreeme Dilute blue - this colour sometimes called Ecru. this colour is supposed to be almost white and under certain light a bright yellow. it is not a well spread gene so i have not personally seen one Dear Sir, Let me point out that there is no such recognised colour legally as ECRU. The colour is "Lemon" it was discovered by me, propagated by me and named by me. The self professed geneticists who tried to steal it and change the name will never receive recognition by decent people. They have never discovered or propagated anything new in their lives. I cannot let you get away with this, and must point out they are all recognisable by having a band in the tail. Therefore you are wrong classing it with the yellows, although you are correct in explaining it as Extreme Dilute Blue. I enclose a picture of there appearance. ticeye Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 hi jack lovly looking birds interesting eyesign how did they perform on the road
Jack Barkel Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Hello Tic eye, We have had good reports from the U.A.E. and in the USA, club, fed, and combine wins. Although the size of these organisation are not comparable with the UK. The latest report from Natal-South Africa, a Lemon Cock won by 50 metres per minute ahead of the second bird. I have managed to get him back and have put him to stock. Regards Jack
