a few years ago remember reading a part in the above book about ,,pulling a tail feather,, reason i am saying this,, [ not that i advocate this :)] i had a pigeon [ 5185]  broke a tail feather as a yearling , just b4 racing , this broken feather [,right in the middle] annoyed me so much , i pulled the stump out , it grewa perfectly normal feather and wenton to win afew races , so next year , as an experiment i did the same to the same bird , the pigeon at 4 years old won 7 races and a lot of positions,,,[ dont make a habit out of it :)]   levi said in his book , there was no proven medical reasons for a bird , improving health, has anyone read this and maybe opinions on this [expect some daft ones ;D] but true anyway   [and who ever has my book could they please return it :)]

have to say the theory is true happened to a pigeon here 'Ryans Daughter' still in the stock shed, Schypos Jim Newton handled her and will vouch for the tail flight that she carries, even when pulled it grows funny still to this day, but the pigeon narf won some races and positions for me shame she was a terible trapper. But i did date down the dates when i did pull the flight i just checked and suprised that one time 2 weeks after pulling she won a race and was 2nd federation

This book is held in the Reference Section of my local Library.

Have seen advertised for sale at around £80, but as it was written a very long time ago, I wondered just how up-to-date the info is?

Not that I would pay £80 for it!  ;D

some one borrowed mine ,,, never seen it again :) :) but very interesting book[and expensive :)] ,,,in it there is a bird with 4 feet  ;D[ honestly] and a bird with two heads[ true ] ,,,wonder how it would get on in an eysign show ;D ;D ;D  as far as the 4 legged bird ,,,it could probably run home quicker than flying home ;D ;D ;D,,,,but if you look through the book youll see pics of them

Pulling a central tail flight (or two) is sometimes used to kickstart the moult. Perhaps there is a connection somewhere Jim? ;)Vic.

Hi there,

Nigel Cowood deals in old books. He advertises in the weekly's and should be able to get you a copy if he doesn't have one in stock. I bought my dad a copy as a christmas present 3-4 years ago, paid about £80 for it then! Good book, and no, it isn't Jimmy's!
