brerjr17 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 please can anybody tell why my yearlings have lost interest in feeding there ybs now that they are about 2 weeks old? is there anything i can do to stop the ybs going backwards other than locking them in the boxes with there parents, as i have never had this problem before.

Guest Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I would guess that it just looks that way. 14 days is about right for the cock and hen to start going down again, looks for all the world that they have lost interest in the youngster, but it'll get fed still. If there's a gallipot of food in there for ybs, they'll also start feeding on their own from that age..
jimmy white Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 check for redmite infestation under nestbowls first plus put galley pot of maples in box and keep full,,,watch theres not another older pair chasing them out their box
THE FIFER Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 its always best if possible to pair a yearling with an older bird, yearlings can be lazy feeders also keen to mate again before youngsters are ready to feed themself.
madmaxlofts Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 do you leave corn in all the time i find if you leave corn in its makes them lazy feeding the young
