Turk Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 just been looking at a friends birds show racers ,love the mealys cracking birds
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Its not a good time to get show racers. They are moulting and moving them at this time of year can cause them to fret which would render them next to useless for a season. Best wait until October when the birds will have moulted out and you can see what you are getting.
jimmy white Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 kept a few show racers many years ago,, managed to race them up to and over 100 miles,, to get them in the 100 mile class,,, ;D then the judge went for the racers ;D but they did look good , , i suppose every one to his own,, but i allways have a soft spot for them,, even just to look at lol they actually reared many winners,, any eggs from some good w/hood hens , went under them,, so they were two fold lol, bred winners and gave me some enjoyment in the winter

pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 no, they stay in. Used to fly them out but you risk damage etc and we are often moving birds between both our loft locations.
