pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Little Sam, there arn't that many Show Racer society's around and not in your area although there may well be fancy pigeon shows with show racer classes but the standard isn't usualy that good. The nearest SRS may be the Midlands which is just off junction 9 on M6.

Guest Freebird Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 you mean like these? Lovely birds, think the first one is just stunning. Is the second one a reduced brown?
jimmy white Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 you cant help but admire the looks of these birds, really stunning to look at
Guest Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 you cant help but admire the looks of these birds, really stunning to look at and far better than Tammys mugshot . andy.

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Lovely birds my mate in west midlands got some crackers that originate through Fitzpatrick & Fleming is name is Bob Hughes he is a Scotsman, her won a few cards at Blackpool this time including a 1st. :) :) We also have some birds that came from Fitzpatrick and Fleming [ who originally got them from David Bramley ] and we have met Bob a few times at the Midland show racer society
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 with all the people giving up racing i don't know why they don't take up showing as it is just as hard and involved, conditioning are feeding correctly as it is racing.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Bob used to have show racers many years ago and has just got back into them as he was finding it difficult to race.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 So these birds are actually raced and shown or isnt that what the name means Show racers are racers that have been bred to improve feather quality and body type.
steve d Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Bob lives 20 yards from me Tammy and helps me a lot with my racers I am going with him to all the shows this time, so will see you there. :) He has some cacking youngsters this year and really looks after them, I go over every day for cup of tea and if I ever finish racing I would have me some. :)
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 they will race Rose, they still have there homing ability and i have won racing with them but find they take a lot more training.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 think there was 2 s add in last weeks bhw for show racers sam , maybe a bit early then u wanted them , :-/ Not a good idea to buy unseen, better to see the birds handle them and get the type you are looking for. Some sellers will just sell what should be culls.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 At the bigger shows they are split, show racer classes and racer classes. The racer classes are normaly for birds that will have to have flown. If a show racer has been raced it would also eligable for the racer classes.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 The Show racers do carry a different ring though which isn't recognised for racing so to race them they would need to carry a normal ring.
Glassfeather Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Lovely birds, think the first one is just stunning. Is the second one a reduced brown? It is a recessive opal blue cheq.
pjc Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I got it now is there much difference between the birds that are flown and those that are not the main difference is body, show racer tend to be much tighter and muscular in body.
