This morning we are taking our mobile loft to a street festival in the nearest town to us. We're setting up a display of all the gear we use clocks baskets feed in jars etc and are manning it in shifts due to it being race day.  The AU have suppied is with all sorts of handouts.  I will ask steve to take a photo of our display then I can post it.

We have a family joined our club two weeks ago, Mum Dad and two boys, they finished their loft yesterday and took home 8 babies last night.

4 years ago Steve gave me a puppy Rosie for Christmas (A red Heeler) As soon as I got her I took her down to the loft and introduced her to the birds, we let her go in a breeding pen of a cock who is a champion wingslapper and she learned from a very early age that the pigeons were "Boss" She grew up with my young bird team spending hours just hanging out with the birds. I think she learned too well !!!!! her favourite trick was trapping in with the birds when they came back from a training toss which didn't bother them at all.  On race day we had to kennel her!!!!!!.  We lost Rosie nearly two years ago and got a dog from an Animal Sanctuary, she hasn't shown the slightest interest in the birds at all and neither has our 2 year old blue heeler we adopted this year.

Hi hyacinth, my older dog is a ruby cavalier spaniel, who takes any opportunity to get in the loft, she came out this morning with her ears covered in feathers she had picked up from the loft floor it was quite a picture, she is less interested in the birds now that the novelty has worn off, I just hope when my whippet grows up her instinct doesnt take over!

Sorry for the girly talk guys!! :P

I have had the website in the magazines a few times, however ads cost money and we cannot afford to be in every week :( I'd like to thank The Fifer for mentioning us in his great articles in the RP :) cheers

I know that a number of subscribers to the site are scribes in the weekly mags. They could mention the site on a regular basis and get it some free publicity. I write in both and mentioned it a few weeks ago and a number of mates who read the columns have said it was the first they had heard about it. You must remember though that the %age of fanciers with PC's is probably still small. If we were also to mention the site when we put out fliers for one loft races, shows etc (along the lines of "for further info check website") that too would keep the site to the fore.

hi, just another idea,,, a lot of people have pcs now, would it be a good idea to ask your local pigeon club secretary, or whoever prints off the paperwork, to add the websites address on the bottom of all the pages, as a footer?

Thanks Doostalker, I'm just that far behind with reading my BHW's! (Just finished Sept 10th 2004!!!) - must be too much time spent on here!!

Great idea snowy, I do encourage mini-site admin's to promote their address to their members; I think I'll send a newsletter to gently remind people :)

Doostalker we had a PC at the Blackpool show 2004, it went down quite well; I'm thinking of doing the same again if I can; but also I have a banner that was on show at Doncaster and Blackpool this last time; hopefully we can get aroound a few more shows this year :)
