why not make a hawk attack website with pictures of attacks and lots more things and then send the site to the rspb and other trusts to let them know about the loss of our pigeons.

could be interesting

the shu tried something like this fifer did they not, cannae mind the name of the scheme when you had to send in any reports of attacks , pictures and even dead birds which had been killed and this got us nowhere , just recently had leeters in from shu about the hawks and the proposals for licenses to protect your birds at home, this was rejected and changes that have been made to cabinet ministers have put this cause back farther because the letters state that the new woman in charge is even more reluctant to take any notice , so there will be no licecses being granted in the near future anyway, will try later and scan the letters on

Yes Tammy, the SHU case was seen by the Executive to be legally flawed in that they wanted a new dual experimental project, one under Licence 'trapping' hawks, and the other using hawk deterrants. Law doesn't allow a Licence until all deterrants have proved ineffective.

SHU were also not prepared to fund the project, (which is not surprising given the way the previous one was altered without them even being consulted on it, or knowing about it.)

We on this Site can go some way towards showing whether deterrants are proving effective or not; that's one of the reasons I promote 'obeying the law' because if we can show they dont work then the Law says....

Sammy, I'd said something similar when the original thread was created way back; graphic pics could turn Joe Public's stomach and backfire on us.

Pics yes, but of injured birds, with a short caption from the fancier telling how it happened despite the measures he/she took to prevent it, and numbers of birds missing after the attack.
