DOVEScot Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 Hi, has any one got advise on the use of egg candlers and if so what ones are good? Wide range and prices on ebay Very popular in the poultry industry as it is important to see what eggs are fertile in the incubators, they also state dud or dead eggs give of harmful gases, they also state handling the eggs is harmful so they have ones with long flexlight
Guest Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I honestly don't know of anyone who uses these on pigeon eggs. I usually just hold the egg up in sunlight when 10 days old and if you can still see light thro it (egg lights up like a candle inside) its said to be 'clear' ... a dud.
Guest Hjaltland Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Mind you dont slip the egg when youre holding up to the light....as I did once, silly boy.
