Sajfos Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Very strange goings on !! Two of My Widowers dropped their 1st Flight after sitting 2 & 4 Days respectively on their secong Round of eggs . No lights in My case . I have never had this before . They seem to be holding their second flights however . Would be interested in comparing notes as the season progresses ? Steve ...
madmaxlofts Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 went to club tonight and ased a few widdowhood men they recken it must be the lights but ive had none on they said basicly my seasons knackered before i start sick as ....
Wiley Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 i would ave said its lights if ur sun hits ur shed all day id think about darking on the old birds maybe, but sound like damage is already done
stevebelbin Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 It has been unusually mild this winter and that may have triggered it!! Normally when you repair the second time to train the cocks back to the hens and let them sit 8-10 days it holds the wing moult back till about June time, any longer than 10 days sitting and they seem to moult earlier. Would never use lights in the winter on widowhood cocks apart from 30mins in the morn to allow me to clean them out.
DFisher Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 mild weather i would think, i dont believe it would affect them racing up to 300 miles or so
