i had a youngster off two nestmates that topped the fed, this was done accidently me and some of my mates bought birds from te humberside stud, i had done well with mine and my mate had done well with his, so we decided to pair them, and split the young, after the bird had topped the fed i asked him for he pedigree, and was very surprized to find out they were nest mates, [mind you i think thats a bit close, but there you are] as ive said before theres nowt so queer as pigeons

Hi

If you pair brother + sister they need to be of the highest possible Quality. Plus for instance are the Brother + Sister Products of a Cross or products of an Inbred -Linebred Family. We ourselves use Brother + Sister matings on occasion to enhance the breeding potential of the family If you go down that road it is best to breed from them and pair them to a branch of the same family very much removed or pair them to a cross of which the owner has developed his family along the same lines as your own, Once crossed race the progeny and if they work well bring them back into your own family in doing so you could bring in a boost to your own proven family

I have bred of mother and son pairings and won with the offspring, have also tried father and daughter and had good results. but only used these pairings for one season. :)

I paried a brother/sister together and got 4no. YBs off them, and they were the only ones that I had to cull that year, as they were continuously going bad, while all the others were in good health, so havent paired brother/sisters since. Food for thought!

Never done Brother / sister mating, we prefer daughter bad to dad or grand dad

I have also had good luck with a brother/sister mating, but it happened accidentally and I would not have mated this way on purpose. I think that anything is possible but just as you would wish to double the good traits by the pairing you are just as likely to double the bad ones.
