Hi,

Can you experienced flyers give me some advise,

If i were unable to race YBs this year, but could train them at any distance during the week, do you think they would and could make good race-yearlings the following year.

Hiya Bob,

A lot of people dont race thier yb...and do extremely well as yearlings.

I think the secret is to make sure that they do get educated in the year of thier birth.. the more training you can give them the better..

No worries  ;)

;D Bob , my uncle took a year out last year , but raised 6 young cocks and trained them well . returned to racing this year and his 6 yearling widow cocks took a few cards between them , and he only lost the one all season ??                                                                              andy  8)

No reason why they wont turn out to be good yearlings. As long as they have a thorough schooling as yb's. Plenty of training. I would suggest up to 100mls. A couple of overnights in the basket as well. Remember and leave the drinkers on the baskets.

some people may say they must be raced as ybs to be any good as yearlings some say it dont matter. if you train them well they should be fine, i raced some yearlings this year that didnt see a basket last year and they raced fine as yearlings,
