lordcornwallis Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 hello there i train my birds 4-6 times before the first race after that i can only get them out on sun/mon and wednesday at night and cannot train them is this ok, as some fanciers say if you keep them racing thay should be ok lc
jimmy white Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 personaly i would like to get them out more, but everyone is not in that position,, if its work thats stopping you , could you not get them out and in b4 you go to work, but ,much as we like our birds ,work has to come first
Guest shadow Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 I would have to agree with Jimmy as I do not work my birds are out morning and evening, are trained until the first race and then the only time they go in a basket after that is to go racing it works for me but as they say all roads lead to rome try to get them out as often as possible and as long as possible at each session.
Guest Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 We still road train our YB's after the first race, 4 days a week, three tosses around 30 miles and one 67 miler
jimmy white Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 i tink yb training is completely different from ob training
jimmy white Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 cornwallis didnt say hyacinth,,, thats why i posted as so,, dont know if he was meaning ybs or old b,s, or both,, maybe he could let us know
lordcornwallis Posted May 19, 2006 Author Report Posted May 19, 2006 hi there i mean old birds i let them out sunday , monday and wednesday two hours at a time thanks lc
jimmy white Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 i dont like training obs after the first race, but as you are in a very difficult, position, i might be tempted to give them some decent road work on the wed, i think the differance is that your training the ybs mind,,,, but with old birds your training to get them fit ,but as i see your in a very awkward position
